Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has lauded Education CS Ezekiel Machogu for pushing forwad school opening dates.

This comes hours after the CS announced that school opening dates for second term had been moved from Monday, April 29 to the following Monday, May 6.

In a post made on social media, the lawmaker said the move by the Ministry of Education will ensure safety of learners during the ongoing long rains season.

"I applaud the Ministry of Education's efforts to ensure our children are safe from the ongoing floods and landslides by delaying the reopening of schools,"

Further, the Senator wants the ICT CS Eliud Owalo to intensify access to digital devices by learners, to boost e-learning.

"I will continue to call upon the Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy (MICDE) led by Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo to step up access to digital devices to ensure continuity of online learning whenever we have incidences such as this. Disaster preparedness cuts across board!" she adds.

Last week, CS Machogu had communicated to regional education heads.
