Sakaja to work with police to restore order in the city

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has pledged to work with security officers, to ensure order is restored in the city.

Sakaja made the sentiments on Monday morning, shortly after meeting senior police officers at Jogoo House Nairobi.

While speaking to the media, the county boss said the county government will set up a traffic and safety authority to oversee the status of security in the capital.

"I'm very happy. And I thank the IG for a very warm reception. They're very receptive to the ideas that we have that we have shared on how to restore sanity and odour in aerobic County, but only will do without flinching who will cooperate with the National Police Service?" Sakaja posed a question

"Indeed, security's national function but it is a shared responsibility. The county will do its part. We have agreed on the steps that we will take as a county government, including setting up the county policy authority including the traffic and safety authority committee that limited because you have too many people doing different things and working in silos. We all serve the same people," he added.

The Governor also warned young people in Nairobi against taking part in criminal activities.

"And so we're telling our young people or those who might be involved in the recent spate of crime, please stop for your own good."
