A woman has been charged over an alleged plot to kill her son-in-law.

Saphina Amudede was accused of conspiring with a security guard to allegedly eliminate her son-in-law in a row over a rented house.

The suspect denied the charges before Makadara Senior Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku.

The prosecution told the court that Amudede committed the offense on February 17, 2024, at Komarock where she had approached a guard codenamed D.A. seeking help to kill her son in son-in-law codenamed S.K.

D.A has been lined up as a star witness in the case.

According to the State, the accused approached some guard of one of the courts in the estate and asked her to look for gangsters to kill her son-in-law who is the complainant in the case.

The court heard that the suspect allegedly explained to the guard that the complainant and his wife had been having domestic issues including child custody which is yet to be resolved in court.

The accused according to the particulars was not happy when she was advised by the son-in-law to move out of their home and rent one of her own house since she was invading too much into his life

It is alleged that the guard leaked the information to other casual workers around before it was shared with the complainant who then reported to police.

Following the developments, the security personnel was advised to confirm to the accused that she had found a hitman. The court heard that a police officer posed as the hitman and nabbed the woman.

The prosecution claimed that the suspect had sent some money since it had been agreed that it would cost Sh50,000 to complete the task.

The suspect, the prosecution said had sent the said hitman a photo of the son-in-law and instructions on how to carry out the killing.

The court was told that the suspect sent the 'hitman' Sh16,000 as a down payment and was to complete the balance after the work was done.

She was set free on sh200,000 cash bail and a surety bond of sh300,000.

The case will be mentioned on March 25, 2024.
