Two people, including an official of a self-help group, have been arraigned in court and charged with threatening to kill a man over a piece of land in Donholm estate, Nairobi.

Patroba Awino, the organizing secretary of the Sowesava Self-help group, and Charles Odhiambo appeared before Makadara Senior Principal Magistrate Agnes Wahito on Monday.

They denied the charge of uttering threatening words to Peter Magoma on September 13, 2023, without lawful excuse.

According to the Prosecution, they said they would kill Magoma, who is the complainant in the case, contrary to section 223(1) of the penal code.

Wahito released them on a cash bail of Sh30,000 each and set the mention date for November 29.

The Prosecution said it intends to call eight witnesses to testify against the accused.

Awino is also facing another case at Milimani court, along with nine other people, for allegedly maliciously damaging a perimeter wall valued at Sh144,400 in March 2018.

They are accused of willfully and unlawfully destroying the wall belonging to Gidjoy Investment Limited, which owns the disputed land.

They are also charged with forcible entry into Gidjoy's property on March 27, 2018, jointly with others who are not before the court.

They are out on a cash bail of Sh20,000 after appearing before Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe.
