The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced that 17 areas in Nairobi will experience water interruption on Thursday, August 31, due to a major leak at the Kabete Water Treatment Works Reservoir.

The leak occurred on the manifold outlet pipeline that divides into various water distribution pipelines heading to Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Riverside, Kibera, and Lang'ata areas within Nairobi.

NCWSC Managing Director Eng. Nahashon Muguna said in a statement that the water supply outlet from the Kabete reservoir will be shut for six hours from 10:00 am on Thursday, to facilitate the repair of the leak.

The affected areas include those along Waiyaki Way, Chiromo Road, Westlands, Parklands, and MP Shah Hospital.

Areas along Riverside, Lavington, Kilimani area, Amboseli area, Gitanga Road, Nairobi, Kenyatta, and Mbagathi and Forces Memorial hospitals are also affected, including areas along Ng'ong Road, the whole of Kibera and Lang'ata estates.

Muguna urged customers in the affected areas to use water sparingly during the period of interruption and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the disruption.

"We are working hard to restore the water supply as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience and understanding," he said.
