The newly constructed Wakulima Market along Kangundo road, Nairobi, will be opened by President William Ruto in three weeks, Governor Sakaja Johnson has announced.

Speaking when he toured the market today, Mr Sakaja promised to resolve dispute on allocation of stalls.

He said traders operating at the parking lot outside the market will be allocated stalls.

"Immediately after the opening ceremony, stall owners will elect their officials who will be responsible for the management of the market, including running the amenities like toilets and parking," Sakaja said.

The governor noted that offices of the area MCA and Ward Administrator will also be accommodated on the market.

The market was built at a cost of Sh800 million and will accommodate traders displaced by road expansion projects in Kangundo Road, Mtindwa and Dagoretti.

Sakaja was accompanied by Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri, Embakassi Central MP Mark Githiru, Embakassi West MP Mark Mwenje, and Mowlem Ward MCA Martin Wairobi.

Mr Mwenje appealed to the governor to donate county land in the area for construction of a secondary school and social hall.

MCA Wairobi urged the President and the Governor to hasten disbursement of the hustler fund to boost traders.
