Incumbent MP Bernard Okoth came third with 18,901 votes. He was an independent ticket.

Okoth, popularly known as Imran, was elected in a by-election following the death of his brother Ken Okoth in 2019.

Orero, a teacher, and Mariga the footballer were the front runners for the seat which attracted more than five contestants.

"I thank my party leader for trusting me," Orero said.

Orero was the principal of Uppehill Secondary School for 10 years. He also taught in other schools in Nairobi County.

"I was born and raised here, making me part and parcel of Kibra," Orero said.
