Orero beats Mariga and MP Okoth to clinch Kibra seat

Peter Orero of ODM has been declared the MP-elect for Kibra constituency in Nairobi.
According to IEBC results, Orero garnered 33,008 votes against his close rival Mc Donald Mariga of UDA who managed 20,049 votes.
Incumbent MP Bernard Okoth came third with 18,901 votes. He was an independent ticket.
Okoth, popularly known as Imran, was elected in a by-election following the death of his brother Ken Okoth in 2019.

Orero, a teacher, and Mariga the footballer were the front runners for the seat which attracted more than five contestants.
"I thank my party leader for trusting me," Orero said.
Orero was the principal of Uppehill Secondary School for 10 years. He also taught in other schools in Nairobi County.
"I was born and raised here, making me part and parcel of Kibra," Orero said.
