New stages introduced to 2025 WRC Safari Rally

The 2025 WRC Safari Rally Kenya slated for March 20-23 in Nakuru and Nairobi will feature two new stages, the organisers have announced.
According to the event Director Norris Ongalo, Morendat Farm in Naivasha and Camp Moran have been included in the route of the competition with its shakedown stage moved from the traditional Loldia stage to Sleeping Warrior.
Ongalo added that the iconic 32km Kedong stage has been reduced to a half.
"We have been having spectator zones that have not been well communicated to spectators. So, this time we want them to know in advance what they can do and where they can catch rally action," said Ongalo.
"The essence next year is that we have increased spectator autograph zones. And thirdly we have introduced a rally village. The rally village will run for four days. And they will have a full experience of viewing vehicles on location and will be able to see race cars throughout the route."
Ongalo was speaking during yesterday's stakeholders meeting at Talanta Plaza, Nairobi. The event was graced by Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, his Permanent Secretary Peter Tum, Kenya Motor Sport Federation (KMSF) chairman Maina Muturi and sponsors.
WRC Safari Rally CEO Charles Gacheru highlighted the achievements of the 2024 event outlining the opportunities for the upcoming year.
"Key highlights included impressive TV statistics, with Kenya emerging as the most viewed event on the WRC calendar. The event's technical execution was also applauded, particularly with the timely start of all stages, which showcased Kenya's commitment to delivering a world-class rally experience," said Gacheru.
Murkomen expressed his satisfaction with the preparations so far. Even as the CS thanked the likes of KCB Bank, CFAO, Kenya Airways and Safaricom for their continued support, he challenged the corporate world to take full advantage of the business and tax rebate opportunities provided by WRC Safari Rally.
"I am elated by the progress we have made, and I am proud of the leadership and professionalism displayed by the WRC Safari Rally team. We are ready to make the 2025 event even more successful, and I look forward to the continued support from all our stakeholders," said Murkomen.
