Over 1000 riders are expected in the ninth edition of the Bikers Family Fest Challenge slated for Nairobi this weekend.

The event organisers have also made elaborate preparations to accommodate over 10,000 fans expected to throng the starting point at Karen Waterfront on Saturday.

"We are racing to embrace and develop a biking culture in Kenya and to provide an interaction forum for participants and their families," event organiser Samuel Ngatho told Standard Sports.

"Last year, we had over 500 riders and close to 1000 fans attending but this year we expect even more through the ongoing registration," he added.

The adrenaline-filled event will be flagged off at the Karen Waterfront, it will see riders race in high-end superbikes across designated stages within the city as they head to Westlands before returning to Karen Waterfront where the finishing point is located.

The contest is open to both private and commercial bikers from all over the country who will be out to compete, network, and also have fun.

Besides the riding competition, other day's activities will include various games for kids, entertainment, and musical performances among others.

"It will be a fun-packed day event for the riders and their families. We have also ensured everyone on board is catered for by including various forms of entertainment and games," Ngatho added.
