Safari Rally legends Glen Edmunds and George Mwangi have been appointed to the newly formed Kenya Motor Sport Federation (KMSF) Appeals Board.

Together with Commercial and Sports lawyer James Gichuru, they will constitute the three-man appeals board.

"In order to strengthen motor sports governance and comply with the Federation of International Automobile (FIA) statutes and having consulted widely with the FIA office, I hereby appoint the three to the said office to serve for the next one year," Safari Rally Kenya CEO Phineas Kimathi said in a press statement.

"This appointment is in accordance with Article 15.1.1-15.3.2 of the FIA International Sporting Code," Kimathi said.

The board will be tasked with dealing with pending disputes and guide the Rallies Commission on the best way to resolve such disputes.

"I wish the three the best and urge them to exercise the delegated authority in a just and fair way," Kimathi, who also doubles up as KMSF Chairman and Motorsports Kenya President, said.

Gichuru is expected to inject the much-needed legal framework to the board. Edmunds is a former rally driver and an international team manager and brings with him a wealth of rallying experience to the board, having served as a local coordinator for various teams in the WRC Safari Rally.
