Hosts St Christopher’s School, Nanyuki emerged the overall winners during the Private and International Prep Schools Sports Association (PIPSSA) Invitational Swimming Championship on Saturday.
The Nanyuki-based institution scooped a total of 67 medals (22 gold, 24 silver and 21 bronze).
St. Christopher’s coach Omar Omari said: “I have trained my swimmers very hard and I’m glad my efforts did not go into waste.”
Their erstwhile rivals, Brickwoods School came in second with 53 medals (20 gold, 14 silver and 19 bronze). They were followed by Chantilly School Karuri Kiambu who managed 41 medals (18 gold, 14 silver and 9 bronze).
Potterhouse was fourth on 26 medals (nine gold, six silver and 11 bronze). Team Podo finished fifth on 13 medals (five gold, five silver and three bronze). Others were Hamptom School on nine medals (five gold, two silver and two bronze), Genesis Sports Limited had five medals (four gold and one bronze). Mpesa Foundation Academy Dolphins collected 15 (three gold, eight silver and four bronze), Juja St Peter's School nine medals (one gold, six silver and two bronze) and Nyeri Good Shepherds Academy on two bronze medals.

The event was used as a qualifier for two major swimming galas; PIPSSA National Gala on June 8 and 9 to be held at the Mpesa Foundation Academy and Seals Invitational Swimming Championship to be held in Kampala, Uganda, between July 2 and 9.
Omari said he is looking forward to a good performance at both events.
About 150 swimmers qualified to represent the country at the annual regional swimming gala in Kampala, Uganda.
Twelve teams took part in the St. Christopher's School PIPSSA Invitational Swimming Championship at the weekend.
The event was sponsored by Genesis Sports Limited, Mt. Kenya TV, Equity Bank, HFC Bank, Taifa Sacco, D-Square Ventures, Beisa Hotel and Sportsman Arms Hotel.
