Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has scored only once and recorded three assists in eight appearances for the Blues since his switch from Arsenal in January.

According to reports from Metro, the France international believes that moving in the winter is the reason for his lack of goals with Chelsea. Another reason is because he came back from almost six weeks of injury that interfered with his consistency.

‘You have to be demanding with yourself. I signed to Chelsea to have a new challenge.” He said.

‘When you sign like that in January, it’s never easy because you have to acclimatize to your team. But I really wanted to be ready right away, even though I was coming back from almost six weeks of injury.

‘The coach started me in the second game and it made me comfortable. It went very well.

‘Then, it is true that I could have done better in some matches. But overall, I repeat, it is very encouraging.’ He added.

The former Arsenal striker pays close to goal scoring statistics and hopes he will soon be prolific in the goal.

‘I am happy with my adaptation, the welcome I received, the relationship on the ground with my team-mates,’ he told L’ Equipe.

‘I should have scored more goals. In terms of statistics, I am very attached to this, I remain stuck at one goal and three assists in five games.

‘It is sure that it is not enough. But in any case, overall, it’s very encouraging. In time I will do it.’ He added.

Giroud is currently with his national team and are set to play against Colombia in a friendly and Giroud will be hoping that he will find the back of the net when his side will play Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday April 1.
