Falcons eyeing better performance this season

Eldoret Falcons coach Joshua Ariko hopes to inspire his charges to fight back and win their upcoming matches in the ongoing Women Premier League.

Falcons started the season on a losing note, falling 4-3 to defending champions Vihiga Queens. But Ariko is confident his side will finish in a respectable position at the end of the season.

“We started on a bad note but I’m impressed with the way the girls have played so far. We are rebuilding a team and I believe we will improve on last season’s performance.

“We can’t afford to drop points now. We want to maintain the performance we have had in our last three fixtures,” Ariko said.

Falcons has won two matches, drawn two and lost one and Ariko believes the performance can even get better.

Falcons are in sixth place on the table standing with eight points from five matches behind Oserian Ladies on fifth who have nine points from four matches.

Makolanders are fourth with nine points, three points shy of third-place Vihiga Queens who have played four matches.

Wadadia who have been impressive this season are second with 13 points from six matches, two points shy of two-time champions Thika Queens who have maintained the lead since the season started.

Falcons will host Mombasa Olympic at home this weekend before facing Vihiga Leeds and Baringo Starlets in their next fixtures. The three sides have not picked a point so far with Olympic, Leeds and Starlets at the bottom of the table.

Ariko is keen to capitalise on these fixtures to make sure he pockets maximum points early in the season.

Meanwhile, Harambee Starlets have intensified training at Kenyatta Stadium, Machako,s despite the unfavourable weather conditions as they prepare for a match against Shepolopolo of Zambia.
