Chelsea are to be investigated by FIFA over an alleged breach of regulations concerning signing foreign youth players.

The Blues have faced two previous investigations in the past eight years, concerning the transfers of Gael Kakuta and Bertrand Traore and now face another, report the Mail.

The Premier League champions received a transfer ban in 2009 as a result of the former, though it was later successfully appealed in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

FIFA have been quick to crack down on illicit youth transfers in recent years, with Atletico Madrid currently serving a ban over the matter, though the Blues' case is thought to be less severe.

While Liverpool and Manchester City were found guilty concerning the transfer of domestic youth players.

A FIFA spokesman refused to divulge details of the Blues' case: "As the investigation is on-going no further comment is possible for the time being."

While Chelsea confirmed that they comply "with all FIFA Statutes and Regulations when recruiting players."
