Rugby: Kenyans dominate games

Kenyan teams extended their dominance in rugby 15s and Sevens as this year's Brookside East Africa Secondary Schools championships entered Day Three yesterday in Gulu, Uganda.

Champions Kakamega High School and 2015 holders Laiser Hill were in a class of their own as they showed their opponents how things are done.

The Kenyans subjected their hosts to humiliating defeats in their own backyard. Kakamega inched closer to retaining the title with an emphatic 61-0 win over Ntare School, while Laiser Hill whipped Mbarara High School 60-0 in 15s rugby.

In the shorter version of the game, debutantes Muhuri Muchiri were off to a flying start, winning their matches with little trouble. They announced their arrival to the East Africa scene with a 26-7 win over Lango College of Uganda. In their second tie, they overcame national champions Menengai High School 21-14.

Earlier, Menengai squeezed a narrow 3-0 over Chavakali, who they beat to be crowned champions during the national Term Two A games. [Elizabeth Mburugu]
