Former Werder Bremen and Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese has won his first match as a professional wrestler in the WWE.

?According to Sky Sports, Wiese teamed up with WWE stars Sheamus and Cesarus, picking up the win over rivals The Shining Stars and Bo Dallas in Munich on Thursday.

Wiese, under his alias 'The Machine', was instrumental in the victory, pinning one of his opponents after delivering his signature finishing move, a body splash.

Having retired from professional football back in 2014, Wiese began to look into professional wrestling as a possible alternative. He appeared at an event in Frankfurt as a timekeeper during that year, interfering in a match and becoming a fan favourite.

He was subsequently invited to train among other WWE stars in the NXT division, a development area for aspiring wrestlers, and continued his training after being invited by Paul Levesque, AKA Triple H, to perform at the WWE Performance Centre in Orlando, Florida. He impressed Levesque, and has now made the perfect start to promising career in professional wrestling.

Clearly a favourite in his homeland as the WWE came to town, Wiese had no problem in pumping up the crowd amongst his more esteemed and bruised colleagues, and was notably thrilled after pinning an opponent for the win.

Wiese had been capped six times at international level with Germany, and made over 250 Bundesliga appearances during his time at Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim. He picked up the German Cup in the 2008-09 season and the German Super Cup in 2009.
