Granit Xhaka has been given a tour of the Emirates after touching down in north London ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Arsenal midfielder has moved to the club for £35million and has arrived in the capital following Switzerland's elimination from Euro 2016.

He took a look at the pitch, the changing rooms, and seemed to pay particular attention to a picture of the 'Invincibles' team of 2003-04 when Arsenal went the full Premier League season unbeaten.

Xhaka missed a pivotal penalty in the shootout for Switzerland against Poland, blazing wide from the spot to contribute to his country crashing out of the tournament.

International teammate and fellow Premier League star Xherdan Shaqiri has backed his compatriot to get over the disappointment quickly.

"Granit is very professional so he can cope with this," he said.

"Of course we’re all very disappointed. Anyone can make mistakes, they happen. Sometimes it’s your turn to be the saddest player.

"Granit will get up and move on. I hope in the World Cup, in the round of 16, he will score and I hope he will."
