30 centres that offer free mental health services in Nairobi

There are at least 30 centres in Nairobi offering mental health services in Nairobi County.

The centres are distributed across 13 sub-counties, and offer free services.

Below is a list of the mental health facilities in the capital city as per the Health department:

Lang'ata Sub-County

Lang'ata Health Centre: physiotherapy and counselling (on Tuesdays).

Kibera AMREF Health Centre: counselling (on Wednesdays).

Kibera DO Health Centre: counselling (on Thursdays).

Makadara Sub-County

Lunga Lunga Health Centre: psychiatric clinic and counselling (on Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Makadara Health Centre: psychiatric clinic and counselling (on Mondays).

Jericho Health Centre: psychiatric services (on Wednesdays).

Community Units: community mental health (on Fridays).

Dagoretti Sub-County

Waithaka Health Centre: psychiatric and physiotherapy services (on Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Uthiru Muthua Health Centre: psychiatric and physiotherapy services (on Wednesdays and Fridays).

Ruaraka Sub-County

Mathare North Health Centre: psychiatric counselling and community mental health (on Tuesdays).

Kahawa West: psychiatric counselling and community mental health (on Mondays and Wednesdays).

Community Units: community mental health (on Thursdays and Fridays).

Starehe Sub-County

Ngara Health Centre: psychotherapy and counselling (on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Ngara Child-friendly Clinic: child and adolescent mental health and counselling (on Mondays and Fridays).

Embakasi West Sub-County

Kayole II Health Centre: psychiatric clinic (on Thursdays).

Umoja Health Centre: psychiatric clinic (on Mondays).

Westlands Sub-County

Kangemi Health Centre: epilepsy clinic (on Mondays).

Westlands Health Centre: mental wellness clinic (on Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Community Unit: mental health (on Thursdays).

Mji wa Huruma Dispensary: mental awareness clinic (on Fridays).

Lower Kabete: psychiatric services (on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Embakasi East Sub-County

Mukuru Kwa Njenga Health Centre: counselling and psychiatric services (on Wednesdays and Fridays).

Embakasi East Health Centre: counselling and psychiatric services (on Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Soweto-Kayole Health Centre: counselling and psychiatric services (during the last Tuesday of each month).

Community Units: community mental health (on Mondays).

Kasarani Sub-County

Dandora II Health Centre: psychiatric clinic (on Mondays).

Kariobangi North Health Clinic: psychiatric services (on Tuesdays).

Kasarani Health Centre: psychiatric services (on Thursdays).

Pumwani Maternity Hospital, Kamukunji: maternal mental health (every Monday to Friday).

Mbagathi Hospital, Lang'ata: psychiatric clinic (on Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Mutuini Hospital, Kikuyu: psychotherapy and counselling (on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Level 5 Hospital

Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital: psychotherapy counselling, mental wellness (every Monday to Friday).
