Jose Mourinho is considering making a shock move for Lassana Diarra in January.
The Marseille midfielder came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge under the Special One and played for him again at Real Madrid.
The 31 year old Marseille midfielder has been off the radar since leaving the Bernabeu in 2012, when he agreed a big money deal with Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
A troubled spell at Lokomotiv Moscow followed, where he was released in 2014 for refusing to train and fined £8.5m by Fifa for breach of contract.
Diarra would not be expected to slot straight into the first team but would likely be happier warming the bench than Morgan Schneiderlin, who is set to move to either West Brom or Everton this month.
