A South-African footballer couldn’t believe it after he was shown a yellow card for showboating.

Showboating can be described as a slightly annoying form of behavior, especially in sport, that is intended to attract attention or admiration because it is very skilful.

The bizarre incident happened last weekend in a match between Baroka FC and the Platinum Stars.

The home-side was 3-1 ahead when footballer Sipho Moeti decided it was the perfect opportunity to showcase his skills.

The 24-year-old first put his two knees on the ball before jiggling them around before pulling out a rather bizarre stepover and then a lunge.

By this point the referee had enough of his antics and decided to pull out a yellow card cautioning him to mocking the opposition.

However the decision angered Moeti and caused huge controversy in South Africa over whether the booking was justified.

Moeti is demanding that his team, Baroka, appeal the yellow card.
