New York, USA: A fortuneteller allegedly fleeced a lovesick man out of nearly £500,000 for a time machine and a reincarnation portal - to meet a woman who had died.

The 32-year-old unidentified man went to see Priscilla Kelly Delmaro, 26, in August 2013 to find a woman he loved, who he had met in Arizona.

But the psychic claimed that evil spirits were keeping the woman, called Michelle, away, he said.

In a statement presented to detectives last month, the man, from New York, said Delmaro told him they were "twin flames" being kept apart by negativity.

She vowed to help and scammed him out of £470,000 ($718,000) over a period of 20 months, it is claimed.

Delmaro allegedly charged him £52,000 ($80,000) for an 80-mile bridge to trap the spirits and more than £45,000 ($70,000) for a Rolex and a Tiffany ring to cleanse his sins and protect his energy.

But on February 17, 2014, it emerged that the woman had passed away.

The man claims Delmaro told him that the rest of the money would be spent on a time machine and a reincarnation portal, according to the New York Times.

Court documents allege the psychic told him she would have Michelle reincarnated into another woman’s body.

Delmaro vowed to return the money when her work was finished, but the man lost his home and car and had to borrow money from friends and family, he said.

More payments and a trip to seek out the 'new' Michelle, who Delmaro said was in Los Angeles, followed, before the man said he decided to go to police.

Delmaro was arrested on May 26 and was charged with grand larceny alongside her companion 27-year-old Bobby Evans.

The pair's lawyer denied the man's allegations.
