Ng'iya Girls National School and champions Nyamira Girls High School are through to the 2024 Nyanza Region Secondary School games finals set to be hosted in Kisumu.

Ng'iya Girls defeated Lwak Girls 1-0 in the semifinals to qualify to the regionals without playing the finals courtesy of Siaya County hosting the regional defending champions, Nyamira Girls.

After more than 20 years, Ng'iya will be back at the regional level.

To achieve the feat, Ng'iya had to overcome a 6-0 defeat at the hands of East Africa, national, regional and county champions Nyamira Girls.

The heavy defeat did not deter the Edwin Ogony coached side from turning around their bombed ship as they bounced back to hit Nyawara Girls 4-0 and book a place in the semis after finishing second in Group A.

In the semis, Nyamira who had thrashed Nyawara 14-0 saw off Mbaga Girls 3-0 to glide into the finals.

On the other hand, Ng'iya Girls knocked out Lwak Girls 1-0.

Ng'iya and Nyamira will now represent Siaya County in the regionals.
