The national women's team on Sunday finished third and therefore will fly back home with the bronze medal as curtains came down on the African Hockey Road to Paris 2024 qualifiers in Pretoria, South Africa.

Kenya thrashed Ghana 3-1 in the third place playoffs at the University of Pretoria to complete a double over the West Africans.

Caroline Guchu, Naomi Kemunto, and Eleanor Chebet netted for Kenya in the redemption win as Berko Mavis scored Ghana's consolation goal.

It was heartbreak and tears for Kenya on Friday after they lost 1-0 to Nigeria in the semifinals, a match that cost them a ticket to France next year.

Kenya defeated Zambia 4-0, Ghana 3-2 in addition to their 1-0 win against Namibia to finish top of Group B.

South Africa qualified for Olympic Games Paris 2024 after thrashing Nigeria 9-0 in the finals.

The hosts thrashed Ghana 7-0 in the semifinals on Friday.

Nigeria will get a second opportunity to qualify for the Olympics, at the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024.
