Lakers Hockey Club will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run in the Kenya Hockey Union Premier League to five matches when they host Amira Sailors at Kisumu Day High School hockey grounds on Saturday.

The Austin Tuju coached side are unbeaten in their opening four matches where they have registered two wins and two draws ahead of the 1pm kick off against Sailors.

Speaking ahead of the midday clash, Lakers captain Alice Owiti said they are keen to maintain their unbeaten run in the league and continue with the winning streak at home.

"We have had a good start to the league this year and we need to maintain it. Winning the league is always our dream but we are not thinking about that now. Our goal and objective remains to avoid defeat especially at home. We want to win all our home matches.

"It is not going to be easy. We need to play better than we did in our last matches both home and away. I believe if we take our chances and score early, we will ease some pressure off, settle early in the game, and close out with a win," said the Kenyan international.

Lakers began the season with a 1-1 draw against defending champions Strathmore University Scorpions before thumping newbies Kenyatta University (KU) Titans 6-1 away in Nairobi.

On May 13, Lakers ended their four match winless run against the Blazers by beating the visitors 1-0.

That was followed by a dramatic 2-2 draw against United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Spartans at City Park in Nairobi.

After four matches, Lakers are fourth on the table with eight points, seven points behind leaders Blazers Hockey Club who have played two more games.

Defending champions Strathmore University who have also played two more games than Lakers are second on 11 points as Sailors follow in third with nine points having played five matches.
