Strathmore University Scorpions on Sunday reminded doubters that they are the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) women's Premier League defending champions after hammering Dutch Flower Girls (DFG) Wolverines 5-0 at City Park.

Maureen Ongoche scored a brace while Angelo Wema, Grace Bwire and Nichole Joy each hit the target as the university students recorded their second win of the 2023 season.

Victory saw Scorpions open a three point lead at the top of the standings with seven points.

Amira Sailors sit second on four points but having played two games less than Strathmore.

In the other match, newbies Kenyatta University (KU) and University of Nairobi (UoN) played out to a barren draw at the same stadium.

The university derby stalemate left both teams rotted at the bottom of the eight-team log on one point each but with UoN with an inferior goal difference.

In the men's Premier League, Griffin Okombe scored a late leveler as defending champions Butali Sugar Warriors rallied from behind to recue a point after a 1-1 draw with Wazalendo.

The draw leaves Butali still top on seven points after three matches.

The other match piotting Kenya P[olice and Sailors was postponed to a latter date.

In the Super League, Mombasa Sports Club saw off Parklands Sports 3-1 as Kisumu Youngsters played out to a 1-1 draw against MVITA.

Sliders on the other hand hammered Vikings 9-0 in the women's category where Charity Miller scored a whopping four goals in the win.
