Defending champions Nyamira Girls is the team to beat at this year's Nyanza Regional Secondary School Term One Games that will end on Saturday at Kisii School.
The multiple-times Siaya County champions have blistered away their opponents with ease since the beginning of the games on Wednesday and are in strong position to retain the title they won last year at Asumbi in Homa Bay.
Nyamira Girls kicked off their campaign with a statement 9-0 win over Amaiko Girls on Thursday.
Laureen Auma scored a hat trick with Laura Adongo adding a brace as Vivian Akinyi, Amanda wamalwa, Jecinter opondo and Judith Atieno sealed the huge victory.
In their second match, Nyamira were held to a barren draw by Sinyolo Girls but despite that, they sailed through to the semifinals with four points and nine-goals.

On Friday, the defending regional champions reminded doubters after their draw with Sinyolo that they are still the team to beat when they schooled Lwak Girls from Siaya 7-0 to book ma final date with Agenga Mixed from Migori County.
Agenga knocked out five-time East Africa champions Sinyolo Girls 1-0 in their other semifinals courtesy of Velma Achieng's solitary goals in the fourth quarter.
On Saturday, all eyes will be on Nyamira Girls as they seek to defend their title.
Led by Laureen Auma who has scored six goals so far and is the top scorer ahead of the finals, Nyamira who also has Jecinter Opondo (two goals), Laura Adongo (3 goals) and star Vivian Akinyi (3 goals) will be keen to get to the nationals.
