JKUAT teach UoE new volleyball tactics in KUSF games

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) humiliated hosts University of Eldoret (UoE) in the men's volleyball, winning 3-1 in Day One of the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) national games on Friday.
The games started with special prayers in remembrance of eight Pwani University students who perished in a deadly road crash in Naivasha on Thursday as they headed to Eldoret for the competitions.
JKUAT proved too strong for UoE, starting off with a 25-21 win in the first set before the hosts staged a comeback to conquer the second set with 25-23.
But JKUAT decisively outsmarted hosts in the third and fourth sets, scoring 25-20 and 25-18 respectively in the national games played at the UoE grounds in Chepkoilel, Eldoret.
JKUAT captain Jayson Manyulu said his team was buoyed after defeating the hosts, who enjoyed massive fan support.
"It is great that we have won the game. It was a hard game but we still managed to secure a win ahead of our next face-off with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST)," Manyulu said after the win.
UoE's hockey men however saved the hosts' blushes after beating the University of Nairobi 1-0 in the men's hockey.
MMUST hockey men proved too strong for their Meru University counterparts, scoring 1-0 in the tough afternoon game.
As MMUST men were overpowering the Meru team, their women's team were teaching JKUAT a technical hockey lesson. The MMUST women won 3-0 against JKUAT.
"Our ladies have maintained their strong feet. They are the reigning champions in the Western Conference after winning all their matches. We are looking forward to going home with the trophy," MMUST tactician Geoffrey Barasa said.
Strathmore humbled Maseno 63-44 in the men's basketball as African Nazarene University (ANU) defeated Kenya Methodist University (KEMU) 48-36.
"We tied on points with Zetech in the women's basketball but we lost on goal difference. We came hoping to do well," Strathmore coach Ronny Owino said.
The finals will be held this afternoon and during the final day tomorrow.
