Defending champions Blazers Hockey Club dropped two crucial points after being held to a 0-0 draw by United States International University (USIU) Spartans in a women's Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Premier League staged at City Park on Saturday.

The result leaves Blazers nine points off league leaders and potential champions Strathmore University Scorpions who were not in action this weekend. The two sides drew 1-1 during their first leg held at the same venue in March.

Blazers are third on 16 points after nine matches and will play second-placed Lakers Hockey Club in Kisumu next week. Lakers have 17 points having played one more game than Blazers.

USIU Spartans on the other hand remained fourth on the standings with 10 points after eight matches.
At the same grounds, relegation-threatened Parkroad Badgers held Sailors to a 1-1 draw in the men's league.

Timothy Obonyo gave Sailors the lead in the 20th minute through a penalty corner before Edwin Agoro restored parity with a 38th-minute equalizer for Parkroad.
The draw leaves Parkroad still second last with seven points after 14 matches while Sailors moved joint fifth with USIU men with 17 points with a game in hand.

On the other hand, Kenya Police were held to a 0-0 draw by bottom-placed Mombasa Sports Club.
Despite the draw, Kenya Police moved second on the log with 28 points, six points behind leaders and defending champions Butali Warriors who are not in action this weekend.
Police leapfrogged Western Jaguars who drop to third on 27 points.
