Hockey: Western Jaguars claw Kenya Police in Kakamega

Western Jaguars moved second in the Kenya Hockey Union Premier League standings after completing a double over Kenya Police in a match played at Eregi Teachers Training College in Kakamega.

Kelvin Machinji and Emmanuel Wiswa scored in the 13th and 52nd minutes as Jaguars hit Police 2-0.

Victory saw Jaguars move joint second on the standings with Police on 24 points from 13 matches. Jaguars has superior goal difference 11 goals to Police's nine.

The Mike Malungu-coached side also stretched their unbeaten run to nine matches since losing to Wazalendo 1-0 in April. On the other hand, the visitors' run of eight matches unbeaten ended.

In Nairobi, Constant Wakhura scored a brace as defending champions Butali Sugar Warriors stretched their unbeaten run to 12 matches after their 5-0 win over relegation-threatened Park road Badgers.

Kennedy Munialo, George Mutira and Calvins Kanu also joined in on the score sheet as the sugar men moved closer to retaining their title.

Butali lead the standings with 33 points, nine points clear of second-placed Jaguars and Police.
