Reigning national men's hockey champions Kenya will renew their rivalry with Western jaguars in Mombasa today when they clash in their opening match of the national Burhani/Jerico hockey festival at the Mombasa Sports Club.

Last December in Mombasa, the law enforcers defeated Jaguar 2-1 on penalty flicks in the final of the national Jamhuri Day tournament and they will be out to repeat the same performance.

Mvita take on United States International University (USIU) in their men's match while University of Nairobi (UoN) open their title chase with a match against Mombasa West. Mombasa Sports Club face Sikh Union in another men's match.

In the women's category, Mombasa Sports Club Swans take on Wolverines while Mombasa Sports Club Squids clash with UoN.

Mombasa County Hockey Association chairman Oliver Max said eight women teams and 19 men's teams will be in action in the two-day tournament that concludes tomorrow with both men and women finals.

"Each match will be played for 12 minutes in each half with straight change over at half time.
