Kenya Police crowned Jamhuri Hockey champions

Kenya Police hockey club are the 2021 Jamhuri men’s champions.

The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Men’s Premier League side defeated Western Jaguars 2-1 on penalty flicks in the finals played at Mombasa Sports Club on Sunday. 

The two sides had played out to a barren draw in regular time leading the match to be decided on penalties.

Police scored through Govan Mbeki and Samson Kibirir, while Jaguars got their consolation via Emmanuel Wiswa.

Kenya Police beat Green Sharks 2-0 enroute to the final through goals by Brian Saina and Oliver Echesa.

Jaguars had eliminated the national men's team 2-0 in the semis.

In the women’s category, Kenya Women XV also required penalty flicks to be crowned champions.

The team consisted majority of national women’s team players defeated Blazers Hockey Club 2-1 to win the title.

This is after the two sides were tied at 1-1 at the end of normal time

Lakers Hockey Club’s Alice Owiti scored for the national team side with Terry Juma netting for runners up Blazers.

During penalty shootout, the Kenya XV scored through Alice Awiti and Gilly Okumu as Blazers got their goal through Terry Juma

In the semi finals, the national side beat Amira Sailors 2-0 with goals scored by Alice Awiti and Rhoda Kuira with Blazers knocked out MSC Ladies 2-1.
