Former East African Secondary School Champions Sinyolo Girls High School and Barding High School have been banned from Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games by the Ministry of Education.

Kisumu County’s Sinyolo Girls was suspended from participating in girls’ hockey after they fielded a player from Kerugoya Girls who had had not met the 90 days rule during last year’s regional games.

Siaya County’s Barding under19 football team has been handed a two-year ban after they were found to have fielded an ineligible player during their Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Term Two games finals against Kisumu Day High School last year in Kisumu.

Nyanza Regional Education Director Limo Chepkawai confirmed the bans saying instructions will be issued to the affected schools.

“I am looking forward to meeting the respective affected schools and we will then give further directions. But as at now, the named schools will not take part in this year’s school games,” he said.

Apart from the two football and hockey big wigs, Kisii School, Gesero High School and Simbi Secondary have also been suspended.

Kisii High rugby team as well as Simbi and Gesero’s football under 19 teams will also face two-year bans.

In Western region, football rivalry schools St Peters Mumias and Kakamega High under 19 football teams have also been handed two-year suspensions alongside Kibabi High School.

Kwale Girls football team from Coast region have also been suspended for two years.
