Healthcare firm eyes Kenya's consumer market with global personal hygiene brands

Shalina Healthcare is now eying Kenya's consumer market with the introduction of global brands.

The firm's Vice president and business head for East Africa Vikas Khandelwal they are banking on the launch of its consumer division to introduce brands like Germol, a personal hygiene care brand that has positively impacted millions of lives across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Khandelwal said Germol was awarded the SuperBrand 2023 in the personal hygiene category in Angola.

"The Monalisa brand was launched in 2023, crafting the essence of Africans in mind, and offers a diverse selection of body lotions and creams. This brand is a tribute to the diverse and beautiful African skin, with each product promising intense moisturisation that lasts up to 48 hours," he said.

Khandelwal said the Monalisa brand stands as a testament to Shalina Healthcare's dedication to authenticity and premium quality.

In 2022, Shalina Healthcare increased its investments through the acquisition of Kenya's Orange Pharmaceutical a move that pushed the company into the top five pharmaceutical companies in Kenya.

"By leveraging Orange Pharmaceutical's expertise, Shalina Healthcare expanded its product portfolio, enhancing its ability to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the Kenyan population," said Khandelwal

He said Shalina Healthcare remains committed to its purpose of providing quality brands at affordable prices to 1 billion people across Africa, driven by its founding principles of Quality, Affordability and Availability.

Situated in Babadogo along Thika Road, Shalina Healthcare Kenya Limited employs over 200 people and has sales and marketing operations across the country.

Shalina Healthcare officially commenced its operations in Kenya in 2018, marking a significant milestone with the acquisition of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company (PMC ) group.

This underscored its collaborative effort towards realising a vision for a healthier and happier African continent which was followed by the launch of several global brands in different therapies such as dermatology and pain management.
