The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has announced a peaceful march on Thursday, February 29.

The doctors are protesting the delayed posting of medical interns and the payment of fees to postgraduate students.

In a letter by KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atella to Nairobi authorities, the route of the procession will be from the Kenya Medical Association Auditorium to the Ministry of Health and subsequently to the treasury.

"In light of the importance of maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all participants, we kindly request your assistance in providing security during this event," said Atella in the letter.

More than 3,000 medical students are yet to get internships several months after graduation.

"We call on all interns to come out in numbers and fight impunity. No one cares when you wallow desperately for months or years without posting... We must show up collectively in one voice and demand the letters now," said Atella.
