Mama Lucy Hospital is gearing up to inaugurate the first public eye-only hospital in the country at its Umoja II branch.

The eye hospital, set to open its doors on Monday, will introduce groundbreaking laser eye surgeries, revolutionizing eye care in the country.

Dorcas Kemunto, the Board Chairperson of Mama Lucy Hospital, announced that the grand opening ceremony will be graced by Governor Johnson Sakaja.

"This visionary project underscores Mama Lucy Hospital's commitment to providing specialized medical services to the community," she said.

This comes amid a plan by the Kenya Medical Association (KMA) to host a free medical camp at the facility as the association marks its 100th anniversary.

The camp is designed to offer complimentary medical consultations, address immediate health concerns, promote preventive care, and empower individuals to take control of their well-being.

Kemunto warmly welcomed KMA's decision to host this significant event within the hospital premises.

She expressed her profound appreciation for KMA's choice to conduct the medical camp at their facility.

Kemunto noted that the medical camp will provide essential healthcare services to those who might otherwise lack access.

Additionally, Kemunto underscored the hospital's substantial investments in enhancing safety and well-being for both patients and medical staff.

"Rigorous security measures have been put in place to protect medical professionals, creating a secure environment that enables healthcare practitioners to provide their services effectively," she said.

Kemunto further encouraged the Kenya Medical Association to continue upholding the highest standards of medical ethics and conduct.

"This centenary celebration is not just an event; it is a profound commitment to the well-being of the people of Kenya, reflecting the enduring legacy of care, compassion, and healing that defines the medical profession," Kemunto remarked.

She also highlighted Mama Lucy's pivotal role in the government's commitment, under Governor Johnson Sakaja, to ensure that Nairobians have access to quality healthcare services.
