Dr. Patrick Amoth will continue to hold the role of Director-General for Health in an acting capacity.

This clears up earlier reports of his said-confirmation.

A circular by Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Susan Nakhumicha dated April 19, 2023 had been misinterpreted by a section of media houses, including The Standard.

The minister had communicated 17 interim appointments, including that of the Director-General for Health, a position held in an acting capacity by Dr. Amoth for the last four years.

"The above officers assume office in acting position, effective April 19, 2023," said Nakhumicha in the circular.

The Standard reached Health ministry for a comment in regard to Amoth's status as the Director-General for Health.

The ministry clarified that Dr. Amoth continues to hold the role in an acting capacity.
