The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) will hold a Special Delegates Conference (SDC) on Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26 at Sarova Woodlands Hotel in Nakuru County.

In the conference where over 500 doctors are expected to be in attendance, a report by the secretary general, treasurer and chairman will be discussed.

KMPDU secretary general Davji Bhimji says the delegates will also discuss the ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/index.php/topic/kenya-medical-practitioners-pharmacists-and-dentists-union-kmpdu">Collective Bargaining Agreement< (CBA) of 2017-2021, and whether or not the government has actually implemented it.

"We're going to discuss whether the employment of 1,200 doctors every year as per the CBA is happening, and look at the Scheme of Service that we have currently to see whether it is helping the doctors and the public or if it's actually the reason for the inadequate healthcare in the country," said Bhamji in a notice seen by the Standard.

"Doctors are coming from all facilities in all the counties...the SDC is the point of convergence for how we engage the county and national governments, and the agendas we want to put in place," he added.

The KMPDU Secretary General says the doctors will also take time to discuss the Kenya Kwanza manifesto so as to keep government accountable on the promises it made to the health sector.

The two-day conference follows a NEC meeting on October 1, 2022, after the Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) scheduled on May 28, 2022, was postponed.

"As per KMPDU Constitution Article (V). sec (C) 3, only delegates duly nominated and mandated by Branch executive Committees shall attend the SDC, any such delegate shall represent twenty ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/health/topic/Kenya-Medical-Practitioners-And-Pharmacists-Union-Kmpdu">bonafide KMPDU members<," said Bhimji in the notice.
