Kenya records six deaths, 113 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

Kenya on Monday recorded 113 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 2,680 raising the country's caseload to 246,643.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 6.3 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 2,500,729.
Out of the new patients, 118 are male, whereas 116 are female, with the youngest carrier being a four-year-old baby, and the oldest aged 97.
Of the new cases, 27 are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi leads with 60, Garissa 9, Kiambu 8, Meru 8, Kajiado 5, Kitui 5, Nakuru 4, West Pokot 4, Marsabit 2, Tharaka Nithi 2, Embu 1, Kericho 1, Kwale 1, Laikipia 1, Machakos 1 and Murang’a 1.
Today six patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease pushing the cumulative fatalities to 4,995.
Kenya recorded 655 recoveries in the last 24 hours with 465 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme and 190 from various health facilities.
Total recoveries now stand at 237,950; 192,448 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation programme, while 45,502 are from various health facilities.
A total of 1,410 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 3,107patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and five (105) patients are in the ICU, 73 of whom are on ventilatory support and 25 on supplemental oxygen. Five (5) patients are on observation.
Another 478 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 455 of them in general wards and 33 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination
Kenya has at September 19, 2021, administered 3,364,322 vaccines across the country.
Of these, the total first doses are 2,504,869 while the second doses are 859,453.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 34.3 per cent with the majority being males at (55 per cent) while females were at (45 per cent). The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 3.2 per cent.
