There were no Covid-19 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says.

In a statement dated September 8, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that even as the ministry reported tens of new fatalities occasioned by Covid-19, none of them was from the last 24 hours.

“Some 30 patients have succumbed to the virus, all being late death reports from July, August and September,” Kagwe’s statement read in part.

However, the country recorded 649 more Covid-19 patients from a sample size of 7, 704. This brings the cumulative caseload to 241, 783.

The positivity rate of the country’s infection today is at 8.4 per cent.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi leads with 188 of the new infections, Bungoma follows distantly with 57 more patients, Nakuru 49, Kiambu 400, Kitui 39, Kericho 30 as the other counties had less than 30 cases each.

This even as 333 patients recovered from the disease: 221 from various health care facilities across the country and 112 from home-based isolation.

Total recoveries now stand at 230, 095.

So far, three per cent of the adult population has been fully vaccinated.
