Cristiano Ronaldo's house in Madeira has been burgled, according to local reports in Portugal.

According to Diario Noticias and Madeira Island News, the suspect entered the property when a maintenance employee opened the garage door.

It is claimed the trespasser did not stay for long in the residence and made off with a signed Juventus shirt, worth roughly €200 (£182), and other small objects.

A member of Ronaldo's family alerted the authorities leading to the arrival of the Public Security Police and plain-clothed officers from the Technical Police Unit.

Internal CCTV has allowed the authorities to see the thief, who is known to them.

No arrests have been made.

Ronaldo's mother, Dolores, and older brother, Hugo, have been known to stay at the property but it is not clear if they were there at the time.

The Juventus striker himself spent part of the Covid-19 lockdown at the residence with partner, Georgina, and their children.

Ronaldo purchased the property in 2015 and it boasts sea views, two swimming pools and a football pitch.

Ronaldo himself was in action for Portugal on Wednesday night.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner played 72 minutes in the goalless friendly against Spain.

Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes was unable to get time off the bench.
