Wanyama among many celebrities using their platforms to speak out about racial injustice and police brutality

Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama on Wednesday evening took to Instagram to voice his pain, frustration, and outrage over police brutality in Kenya and racial discrimination in the US.

Wanyama's Instagram post comes in the wake of the death of a homeless man, who was allegedly shot by police, for violating a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Bondeni, Mathare and also the global protests over the killing of George Floyd- a black man who died after his neck was knelt on by a white police officer in Minneapolis last week.

Protests were also held outside the US embassy gates in Nairobi by Kenyans and Americans who demanded rights for the Black community in America and victims of police harassment in Kenya.

Coming out to stand in solidarity with protesters, Wanyama took to social media to call for justice for victims of senseless killings due to racism and police brutality.

The 28 year-old added his voice on the developments, saying: ‘There comes a time when silence is betrayal. I stand for Equality and Justice’
