A football star was allegedly the victim of a brutal attack in Ibiza earlier this morning.

Graham Dorrans and fellow Rangers player Ryan Jack have been on holiday on the island with their wives since Sunday.

However, it appears Dorrans, 32, was assaulted in the early hours of Friday morning.

Video on social media appears to show the aftermath, with a man, said by witnesses to be Dorrans, lying on a stretching clutching his face.

In the clip he is flanked by what appear to be paramedics, who are treating him.

The players and their wives were pictured on Twitter soaking up the sun on Thursday.

Former Aberdeen midfielder Ryan's wife Ashleigh shared a snap on social media and captioned it: "Jack/Dorrans take Ibiza".

Ex-Livingston, West Brom and Norwich ace Dorrans and his wife Yvonne were in the poolside picture.

However, just hours later outraged Rangers supporters took to Twitter and fans' forums to condemn what looked like a cowardly bottle attack on one of their players.

Outraged supporters lined up to express anger over the incident.

@_IbroxLoyal said: "Graham Dorrans viciously assaulted while holidaying in Ibiza. Taken to hospital. Absolutely sickening, hope the scum that did this are caught. A genuinely nice guy."

@John_Evans_7 added: "Absolute scumbags whoever attacked Graham Dorrans."

Another Twitter account said it was 'disgusting' that players could not go on holiday with their families without getting attacked and passed on their best wishes to Graham.

@Sambreingan27 posted: "Graham Dorrans bottled while on holiday enjoying himself. What the f*** is wrong with people nowadays? Shocking."

@sjs1872 added: "Just seen the video of Graham Dorrans injured after the attack, some people are just scum."

@Mackenzie303 claimed the player had been punched rather than hit with a bottle.

He said: "He wasn’t bottled. He got hooked and went down and hit his head off the deck."

Dorrans started his career at Livingston before getting a big move to West Bromwich Albion in 2008.

The Scotland international later joined Norwich City.

He then joined his boyhood heroes in July 2017 for a fee of around £1.3million.

Ankle and knee injuries have limited his appearances in Light Blue and he last played under boss Rangers Steven Gerrard in a 4-0 League Cup win over Ayr United in September.

But the player is expected to be fully fit for the start of pre-season this summer and ready to compete for a starting slot in midfield with Scott Arfield, Jack, Glen Kamara and Steve Davis.
