If you thought Instagram was just for massively over-filtering photos of your lunch, then you'd be wrong.

The photo-sharing app is big, big business these days, especially when it comes to promoting products, celebrities, and the products that celebrities are using. All of which brings us to Cristiano Ronaldo, of course.

Now if you were wondering why Ronaldo so often looks like that on his Instagram profile - five of his last six posts are with his top off - then it is usually for commercial reasons.

And a new study has shown that the Real Madrid star - who has 106 million followers - earns a staggering £308,000 per sponsored post, placing him third in the "Instagram rich list" as the top-earning male in the world, just ahead of reality star Kylie Jenner (he's paid the same as her, but has more followers).

The only two celebrities ahead of him are pop star and actress Selena Gomez on £424,000 per post and reality queen Kim Kardashian on £385,000 per post.

In fact, the Kardashian-Jenner family make up half of the top 10.

The only other male in the top 10 - and indeed the only other sportsperson - is NBA star LeBron James, who can earns £92,457 per post.
