Arsenal playmaker Francis Jeffers has admitted that he was wrong to leave Everton for Arsenal.

Francis Jeffers claims that he was wrong to leave Everton for Arsenal in 2001, with the opportunity to join the Premier League giants coming “too soon” for him.

Jeffers who was considered to be a hot prospect when the Gunners acquired him from Everton for £8 million struggled to make an impact as he competed with the likes of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.

“[Arsenal] wasn’t the right move for me but it was a difficult time because of the way our Football Club was then, it wasn’t like it is now. It was a good move for me and the Club at the time but it was definitely too soon and probably the wrong move.

Francis Jeffers left Arsenal in 2004 with his career hitting a downward curve.
