United States sprinter Justin Gatlin smashes Bolt’s World 100M Record

Gossip & Rumours

After coming second to Usain Bolt at the 2015 World Championships, Justin Gatlin is clearly prepared to do anything to go quicker than the fastest man on Earth.

The former Olympic champion - whose personal best for the 100m is 9.74 secs - was propelled down the track by the crazy gust of wind appearing on a Japanese TV show in an attempt to break Bolt's record of 9.59 secs, set in 2009.

The strength of the "wind" was FOUR TIMES the legal limit allowed for records in competition.

Justin Gatlin really, really, REALLY wants to beat Usain Bolt

Not that this minor detail would have bothered Gatlin. As athletics fans will know, the American star is no stranger to bending the rules.

He has been banned for doping not once, but TWICE, in 2001 and 2006.

So yes, he covered the distance in 9.45 seconds.

And yes, that is quicker than anyone has ever done it before.
