Van Gaal also treats his second (R) wife Truus 'disgracefully' and humilates her in public, the book claims

Louis van Gaal's explosive temper has been laid bare as part of a revealing new book.

"O, Louis: In Search of Louis van Gaal" promises to uncover more of the unseen side of the Manchester United manager.

And in an incredible extract, published by the Times, one of Van Gaal's former players gives an example that shows just how quickly the Dutchman can lose his cool and the manner in which he speaks about his wife publicly.

“The way he treats Truus (his second wife) in company is ungentlemanly and sometimes downright disgraceful,” claims author Hugo Borst in O, Louis

“In the company of friends and acquaintances, Louis has made comments that in nine out of 10 marriages would have been grounds for divorce. People who have lunched or dined with Louis say alcohol does not have a favourable effect on him.”

While training with AZ Alkmaar back in 2006, goalkeeper Khalid Sinouh was instructed to take his place between the sticks while team mates tried their luck.

"He set up this exercise where I had to be non-responsive as a keeper but the crosses were so dodgy I had no choice to save them, and that was a definite no-go," he says.

"He had already bollocked me for it once but the second time he comes over and starts screaming at me something fierce and his dentures go flying."

Van Gaal's volatile display wasn't over there however, as Sinouh goes on to explain.

"Best of it was, he caught them in a single movement, stuffed them back in his mouth and carried right on screaming," he adds.

"And there's me standing opposite him trying to keep a straight face."
