New boss Louis van Gaal is set to start work at Manchester United after just two days of rest.

The Dutchman arrived home from the World Cup yesterday and is set to step into his new role at Old Trafford as early as Wednesday.

He told NOS: "I don’t need a holiday. It’s great to have such an exciting challenge."

Van Gaal is set to spend two days at United's Carrington training complex where he will catch-up with Ryan Giggs and the rest of his coaching staff, before making moves for other transfer targets.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Van Gaal is weighing up moves for three of his World Cup stars.

Netherlands impressed to finish third in Brazil and now the United boss wants them to join him in the Premier League.

Feyenoord pair Bruno Martins Indi and Stefan De Vrij have been linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent times and both are said to be on the radar again.

And they've been joined by left-back-cum-midfielder Daley Blind , who saw his stock rise this summer.

The Ajax man's versatility appeals to Van Gaal, especially with Patrice Evra closing in on a switch to Juventus.
