The luxury family home of Southampton star Sadio Mane was engulfed in flames earlier this week.

Mane was left contacting his family to ensure that everyone escaped safely after a terrifying blaze began at his home in the southern Senegalese city of Sedhiou.

It is understood that several members of the 24-year-old's family were able to escape without any significant injury.

The mansion is believed to have been left significantly damaged following the fire but Mane's personal property is believed to be in tatters.

Mane’s uncle Ibrahima Toure told The Sun: “The fire destroyed Sadio’s money and documents, furniture, clothes and food, and the building itself has been damaged.

“Thankfully we escaped injury as everyone was out of doors when it happened. An electrical fault was to blame.”

Mane has played in Europe since signing for French club Metz in 2011. He later moved to Red Bull Salzburg, where he played before his £11.8million move to Southampton in 2014.

He has since impressed at St. Mary's and is believed to be a transfer target of Manchester United.

Mane has scored nine times in 36 appearances so far this season, requiring just one more goal to match his tally from the last campaign.
