Louis van Gaal hints when he could be sacked by Manchester United

Louis van Gaal has admitted he could be sacked by Manchester United.
Van Gaal accepts the United hierarchy will assess him and make a decision on his future at the end of the season.
The Dutchman hopes to fulfil the final year of his Old Trafford contract, but accepts his fate will be decided by the Glazers and the rest of the United board.
“I cannot say because I think the board have to evaluate after the results of this year what they have to do,” said the United boss.
“I think that’s normal and I can’t predict that when I don’t know the facts.
“First you have to see the facts. I have always said that. The results, the titles, and the Champions League positions, you can only say that on the 15th of May it is like this or like that.”
United’s minimum requirement is a Champions League place and van Gaal admits their final eight Premier League games will be critical.
United are sixth and van Gaal was pleased that Sir Alex Ferguson highlighted his crippling injury list and the fact he has successfully blooded so many young players, like Marcus Rashford when he called for fans to be patient.
“I don’t know now the next eight matches,” said the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss. “You can only evaluate when you have the total facts.
“Then you have to evaluate the circumstances, how I had to work in that season. An example of that is the interview by Sir Alex.
“I’m saying that always. I’m a rational person. I know a manager of Manchester United has to win something, but I’m still working on that.
“Now I cannot say and my board cannot say either. We have to play those matches still and West Ham United in the FA Cup and hopefully after that, Everton, and the final. I think every match counts, every match.”
Van Gaal believes he can end United’s difficult season on a high by winning the FA Cup and was cheered by Sir Alex Ferguson’s public backing for him.
Van Gaal says Sir Bobby Charlton, who will have the South Stand at Old Trafford named after him at tomorrow’s game against Everton, has also supported him, along with the rest of the board.
“It’s not just Sir Bobby, also Sir Alex, also Ed Woodward, Richard Arnold and David Gill,” he said.
“It’s not unique. What is unique is that all the members of the board are always supporting you. That’s remarkable.”
Van Gaal also hit back at Angel Di Maria for accusing him of playing him out of position during his unhappy one season at United last year.
“I’ve never seen a player who looks at himself, who looks at the way they performed here,” he said.
“It’s always the fault of the manager. So he is one of the players, in a row of players, who have no self-criticism.
“Unfortunately in my life as a manager, it is always like that.”
